Document Description
The project proposes sub-surface investigations at McLaughlin Eastshore State Park State Seashore to determine if historical waste disposal at the Albany Plateau poses a present-day risk to visitors or the environment. This investigation will be achieved by a contractor using a phased, data-driven approach. The contractor will:
Use the Orion Scan PlotSM system to scan for gamma activity to identify and map identified areas within a 35-acre investigation area;
Use hand tools to collect up to twelve (12) soil samples from the top 6-inches of soil or from hand-excavated “test pits”;
Collect groundwater samples from a minimum of three (3) locations (two (2) perimeter samples and one (1) hotspot sample) to assess groundwater quality; and
Report all findings and results to the Department of Parks and Recreation.
