Reasons for Exemption
The project's scope of work includes improving existing public roadways within the existing County right-of-way. The project meets the criteria for a CEQA Class 1 exemption according to Section 15301, which includes the repair, maintenance, and minor alteration of existing structures. Section 15301 (c) specifically exempts repair and maintenance of existing highways and streets. Since this project only includes resurfacing and repair of existing roadways, and does not create any additional automobile lanes, it can be concluded it will not have an impact on the environment and is considered exempt under CEQA guidelines.
