Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes repairing pavement failure on State Route (SR-) 82 in South San Francisco, San Mateo County, at post mile (PM) 19.64. Field Maintenance discovered a substantial depression caused by settlement of the roadway’s structural section due to rainwater infiltration. The depression measures approximately 4-6 inches deep, 10 feet wide, and 48 feet long across the northbound lanes 1 through 4. The Office of Geotechnical Design West recommends repairing the localized pavement failure using expanding polyurethane foam injection, followed by grinding and paving the damaged pavement section with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA). Temporary traffic control will be required during construction.
