Reasons for Exemption
The project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act pursuant to the Class exemption. CEQA’s Class 1 exemption consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use (CEQA Guidelines §15301). The improvements include site improvements, and remodel of the exterior and interior of the existing building, which do not expand the existing use. Therefore, the proposed project is exempt from CEQA.
