Document Description
The project involves the controlled burning of approximately 14 acres of annual grassland located within Joseph D. Grant County Park. Project activities include igniting dried grass, cut brush and standing non-native weeds (thistle) through a broadcast burn pattern to improve conditions for native grasses, forbs and wildflowers. This area is being added to an existing 411 acre burn that is currently covered under a CALFIRE Vegetation Management Plan. Associated activities include fire suppression with fire pump apparatus, hand tools and portable backpack pumps primarily along the burn unit perimeter. The burn activity will occur within the approximately 3.65-acre Honeymoon Plot, 3-acre Green Barn Plot and 7.5-acre Equestrian Meadow Plot that has been prepared for the burn by perimeter mowing, brush clearing and weed trimming. Operation will be conducted under Cal Fire LE7/8 permit and a BAAQMD Open Burn permit.
