Document Description
The Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District proposes to complete roofing repair and replacement projects at multiple District school campuses. The project consists of removal and replacement of deteriorated roofing systems that have reached the end of their service life.Roofing systems identified for replacement include built-up roofing systems with gravel surface, modified bitumen roofing, architectural asphalt shingles, metal standing seam roofing, and clay or concrete tile roofing. Work may include removal of existing roofing materials and installation of new roofing membranes or shingles, underlayment, flashing, insulation, coping, and other related roofing components necessary to restore the integrity and performance of the roofing systems. Minor repair of roof components such as flashing, roof access points, and localized dry rot may also occur as needed.All work will occur on existing buildings within developed school campuses and will not expand the footprint, capacity, or use of the school facilities. The project will maintain safe and functional facilities for students, staff, and visitors.

Therefore, the project qualifies for categorical exemptions under CEQA Guidelines Sections 15301 (Existing Facilities) and 15302 (Replacement or Reconstruction)..None of the exceptions specified in CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply.
