Document Description
The Robert A. Perdue Water Treatment Plant Clearwell Repair Project will rehabilitate the plant's 10-million-gallon treated-water clearwell, a critical facility that provides storage and chlorine contact time for disinfection. Built in 1960, the clearwell requires targeted repairs to its roof system, roof supports, and internal baffle wall supports to maintain structural integrity, protect water quality, and ensure reliable operation. The project includes two phases: design and construction. Design work involves reviewing prior evaluations, developing a recommended repair strategy, preparing a Preliminary Design Report, and producing construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Construction will follow a phased approach to minimize operational downtime and will include roof panel replacement, structural repairs, baffle support rehabilitation, and installation of corrosion-resistant protective coatings. Strict sanitary practices--such as disinfection procedures, contamination control, and debris management--will be implemented throughout construction to safeguard water quality. Once completed, the project will restore the clearwell's reliability, extend its useful service life, and support continued delivery of safe drinking water to the communities served by the Perdue Water Treatment Plant. The project will benefit approximately 200,000 people in National City, western Chula Vista, and Bonita by ensuring continued delivery of safe, reliable treated drinking water through a restored and structurally sound clearwell.
