Document Description
CAL FIRE is providing funding to TreePeople to implement reforestation treatments on federal lands within the San Bernardino National Forest. Treatments include site preparation, invasive weed abatement, multi-species reforestation, and rare conifer monitoring within the fire-scar footprints of the 2020 Apple Fire and El Dorado Fire. These treatments will be critical to restore forest health, by increasing carbon storage, improving watershed health, and promoting wildfire resilience.

Reasons for Exemption
CEQA does not apply to fuel reduction, reforestation, & habitat restoration projects undertaken, in whole or in part, on federal lands to reduce the risk of high severity wildfire that have been reviewed under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), if the primary role of a state or local agency is providing funding or staffing for those projects. The proposed project was reviewed under the NEPA Apple and El Dorado Post-Fire Restoration Project Finding of Applicability and No Extraordinary Circumstance (FANEC), signed March 25, 2026.
