Document Description
Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) is proposing the Division 6 Demolition and Abatement Project located at 100 Sunset Avenue in the Venice area of the City of Los Angeles. The existing Division 6 facility is permanently vacated and the 3.12-acre site is proposed for demolition of the empty abandoned buildings and abatement of hazardous materials. The existing structures would be demolished, including removal of above grade structures, as necessary to complete site abatement. Demolition work would not include grading or subsurface removal of footers or foundations.

Reasons for Exemption
The Project consists of the demolition of the existing Metro-owned facility and the abatement and removal of hazardous materials. Because the proposed work involves the demolition of existing small structures with no expansion of use, the Project qualifies for a Class 1 categorical exemption under CEQA Guidelines §15301. In addition, because the Project includes minor cleanup actions to remove and off-haul hazardous materials under regulatory compliance, it also qualifies for a Class 30 categorical exemption under CEQA Guidelines §15330.
