Document Description
Caltrans proposes repairing drainage and pavement settlement on SR-92 in San Mateo County at PM R12.59. Field Maintenance identified rough driving conditions and pavement settlement at the east approach to Bridge No. 35-0252L. The settlement was caused by stormwater infiltration undermining the roadway subbase. The pavement is settling across the full width of the highway, creating abrupt elevation changes experienced by motorists traveling through the area. The observed settlement ranges from approximately 0.5 to 4.0 inches and affects an area measuring approximately 48 feet by 24 feet. The project will repair the pavement settlement by injecting polyurethane foam to lift the roadway to its original grade. The pavement will be ground and repaved. The 25-foot Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) Dike – Type A will be reconstructed. The existing drainage inlet, 18-inch reinforced concrete pipe (RCP), and outfall area will be cleaned. Sandbags will be placed from the existing bridge barrier to the drainage inlet. Erosion control measures will be implemented. Temporary traffic control will be required during construction activities.
