Document Description
CAL FIRE is providing funding to the North Fork Mono Tribe to implement tribal wildfire resilience treatment activities on culturally significant lands within Sierra National Forest and Inyo National Forest using Tribal land management practices. Treatments include cultural burning, manual thinning, and forest meadow restoration activities, including invasive species removal. These treatments will enhance biodiversity and improve hydrology, climate, and wildfire resilience and aim to serve California Native American Tribes and advance forest health and cultural use of fire.

Reasons for Exemption
CEQA does not apply to fuel reduction, reforestation, & habitat restoration projects undertaken, in whole or in part, on federal lands to reduce the risk of high severity wildfire that have been reviewed under the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA), if the primary role of a state or local agency is providing funding or staffing for those projects. The proposed project was reviewed under the (1) Whiskey Ridge Ecological Restoration Project NEPA FEIS & ROD, signed May 22, 2013, (2) Greys Mountain Ecological Restoration Project FEIS & ROD, signed March 16, 2022, (3) Eastern Sierra Climate and Communities Resilience Project NEPA EA-FONSI & DN, signed September 19, 2024, and (4) Graham Restoration Project NEPA DM, signed June 23, 2025.
