Reasons for Exemption
The Proposed Project qualifies for several categorical exemptions under the CEQA Guidelines. Under Class 2 (§15302), the Proposed Project replaces the existing UAL Hangar and surrounding area with facilities serving the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced, resulting in only a minor increase in aircraft RON/RAD parking positions. The availability of additional RON/RAD aircraft at this location would not increase airport operations. Class 3 (§15303) applies to the installation of small structures and utility relocations – such as cameras, lighting, chargers, restrooms, and duct banks – which are included in the project. Class 4 (§15304) covers minor alterations to land of which the Proposed Project involves site grading on land with a slope of less than 10 percent and is not located in any of the areas within which grading would not be exempt. Lastly, the Proposed Project does not trigger any exceptions that would disqualify it from these exemptions.
