Document Description
The El Dorado Irrigation District (District) proposes to stabilize and repair a sinkhole that has occurred at the Deer Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant (DCWWTP). The sinkhole is located within the developed facility adjacent to the sludge dewatering building and was found to be approximately 30-feet deep from the top of pavement with an estimated diameter of 8-feet. The sinkhole was previously identified on the 1996 DCWWTP Phase 2 drawings as an abandoned vertical shaft. It is suspected that the shaft was backfilled with aggregate base during construction of the DCWWTP 1997 Phase 2 Upgrade Project; however, the sinkhole has since expanded. To stabilize and repair the sinkhole, the District proposes to relocate and install approximately 45-linear feet of 6-inch PVC gravity belt thickener pipe, 75-linear feet of 10-inch PVC recycled water pipe, place approximately 70 cubic yards of concrete in the sinkhole, and re-pave over the work area. Stabilization and repair of the facility will take approximately 2 months with crews working Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Equipment that will be used for construction will include an excavator, loader or backhoe, dump trucks, paving machines, rollers, concrete trucks, concrete pumps, broom truck, crew trucks and miscellaneous hand tools. Treatment operations at the DCWWTP will not be affected.
