This project will identify the location of a leak on a recycled water main pipeline, anticipated to be in the vicinity of the railroad tracks at the east end of Curtis Avenue. The leak was initially discovered in May 2025, and extensive investigative work on the west side of the railroad tracks did not identify the leak.

Reasons for Exemption
This project consists of the assessment of an existing recycled water facility and future repair based on the findings of this project. Section 15301 "consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use." The scope of work will not extend beyond existing project boundaries and consists of repair and minor alteration of the existing recycled water facility. All work is to be managed by the City of Milpitas, Engineering Division.
