Document Description
The Sunset Dunes Mobility and Access Project proposes a series of improvements to enhance accessibility, . safety, and comfort for park users along the Sunset Dunes coastal promenade, located between Sloat Boulevard and Lincoln Way in San Francisco. The project includes: (1) creation of an accessible park entrance at Noriega Street; (2) new pavement striping and sign age to clarify modal separation between pedestrians and cyclists on the east and west promenades; (3) improved crosswalk striping and crossing design to enhance pedestrian and bike safety; and (4) installation of seating and other access features for users with mobility impairments. Creation of an accessible entrance at Noriega Street would involve demolition and replacement of approximately 3,000 square feet of paving and minor re-grading as needed to meet code requirements. Depending on the final design, additional ground disturbance of approximately 1,500 square feet of sandy soil, currently covered by invasive, non-native iceplant, may be required in order to meet accessibility requirements. All disturbed landscape would be re-planted with appropriate coastal native plants. Ground disturbance depths would be up to 3 feet. Case No.: 2026-001622ENV
