Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) approved Habitat Restoration and Enhancement Act–Request for Approval, Request No. 1652-2026-089-001-R2, pursuant to section 1652 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, American River Conservancy, as represented by Cathy Mueller.
The project proposes the installation of small-scale, nature-based stabilization features within an unnamed tributary to Shingle Creek. The design includes harvesting woody debris and vegetation from designated harvest areas to install up to 40 beaver dam analogs and post assisted log structures. Additionally, rock cobble will be placed to create pooling features and armor existing roadways and the stream channel to prevent downstream sediment load and increase aquatic habitat area. Native vegetation will be planted to assist in bank stabilization, primarily in the form of willow (Salix spp.) cuttings.
