Document Description

Reasons for Exemption
The City of San Diego determined that the project is categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to Section 15331, Historical Resource Restoration/Rehabilitation. This exemption applies to projects involving maintenance, repair, stabilization, rehabilitation, restoration, preservation, conservation, or reconstruction of historical resources consistent with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The project consists of converting an existing designated historic resource (HRB No. 1554) from commercial to residential use while retaining and preserving its historic integrity in accordance with the City's Historic Resources Regulations the Secretary's Standards and it does not include demolition or alterations that would materially impair the resource. The City further determined that none of the exceptions under CEQA Section 15300.2 apply as the project would not result in cumulative impacts, unusual circumstances, or other significant environmental effects. Therefore, the project qualifies for the Section 15331 categorical exemption. The site is not included on any list compiled pursuant to Government Code Section 65962.5 for hazardous waste sites.
