Document Description
This project will improve river access at the North Beach area in Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park as well as provide new and improved shade ramadas and picnic facilities including a large new event ramada adjacent to the accessible river pathway. Specific improvements will include the following:
• Install approx. 2,600 square feet of additional asphalt concrete for expanded loading zone;
• Use of articulated concrete blocks to install a 15-ft wide x 66- ft long non-motorized boat launch ramp and a 6-ft wide x 126-ft long non-motorized boat launch ramp;
• Excavate approx. 12-in. wide x 3-ft deep x 181-ft long trench to install approx. 181 linear feet of 1-in. galvanized steel water piping and two (2) water valves;
• Install ten (10) 16-in. diameter by 2-ft deep concrete blocks, with (2) stainless d-rings, along the designated water high mark to serve as block tie downs for non-motorized boats;
• Install approx. 2,750 SF of 4-in. thick reinforced colored concrete over a 4-in class II aggregate base for a site entrance sidewalk at the existing drop off area, and paving beneath one (1) picnic shelter;
• Install 80 SF of 12-in. x12-in. x 2-in. precast concrete truncated dome pavers where trails meet parking lot area;
• Install 8,000 SF of 6-in. deep aggregate paving with 2,000 LF of timber edging for trails throughout site with timber edging secured with 24-in. rebar stakes at 36-in on center;
• Install 300 LF of split rail fence with cedar rails and posts; posts installed 8-ft on center with 30-in. below grade and 36-in. above grade;
• Install two (2) 24-ft x 15-ft shade ramadas with redwood posts and beams and flat sloped metal roofs;
• Install two (2) 24-ft x 54-ft picnic shelters with exposed timber posts and columns and Gable metal roofs;
• Install four (4) double wildlife proof trash receptacles with bear protection;
• Install twenty-two (22) standard park concrete picnic tables;
• Install one (1) drinking fountain with accessible spout, bottle ?ller spout, and pet bowl;
• Install one (1) standard wood parks display case at vehicular drop off;
• Install one (1) 6x6 post for GFCI receptacle at vehicular drop off;
• Install two (2) 96-in. x 30-in. wood layout tables with four (4) steel 3-in. diameter posts in concrete footings;
• Install three (3) 60-in. long custom wood benches with legs set in concrete footings;
• Install two (2) 4-in. diameter removable carbon steel bollards at vehicular drop off;
• At the non-motorized boat launches install two (2) hose bibs on concrete pads; and
• Install twenty (20) 36-48-in. boulders, with 12-18-in. below grade at the vehicular drop off.
The project will incorporate all of the applicable Standard Project Requirements.

Project consists of the operation, or minor alteration of existing public or private structure, facilities, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond current levels; construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures, included as “Construction or installation of park facilities, such as small parking lots, interpretive signing or panels, fencing, signs, fencing and boat launching facilities” in the Department of Parks and Recreation’s list of exempt activities, in accordance with CCR §15300.4; and minor public or private alterations in the condition of land and/or vegetation which do not involve removal of healthy, mature, scenic trees, including trail construction.
