Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is proposing a highway maintenance project which proposes various improvements at the intersection of State Route (SR) 108 and Morris Ave, at Post Mile 23.44 in Stanislaus County. This project proposes to replace the existing signal head, install back plated with retro reflective borders to all existing traffic signal heads, and re-striping at the intersection. All work will occur within existing Caltrans Right of Way, and no additional right of way acquisition or utility relocation is anticipated. The purpose of this project is to replace the permissive signal with a protected left turn signal to help address broadside collisions due to motorists failing to yield. The project is needed because the intersection is experiencing fatal and severe injuries caused by broadside collisions.
