Document Description
Caltrans proposes to upgrade the water and wastewater systems at Wiley's Well Safety Roadside Rest Area (SRRA), located on the north side of Interstate 10 (I-10) in Riverside County. The project is located between Post Mile (PM) R134.80, Wiley’s Well Road interchange, and PM R144.50, about 0.6 miles west of Mesa Drive interchange near Blythe.
The project would consist of constructing and installing a new 9.5-mile water supply line from Wiley’s Well SRRA to PM R144.50 near Blythe; Upgrade wastewater system, restroom’s fixtures; install new leech lines in the existing leach field; water storage tank and booster pump replacement; install permanent desert tortoise fencing around the SRRA and from post mile R135.04 to R 136.75 on both sides of I-10 within the Caltrans right of way; and replace current trash receptacles with raven deterrent trash receptacles.
No work would occur in the parking lot, and all work would be within Caltrans Right of Way. The SRRA would remain closed during construction.
