Document Description
Sacramento County Department of Transportation will construct a new traffic signal in addition to curb and ramp improvements at the intersection of 65th Street and 53rd Avenue. The project will improve vehicle and pedestrian facilities and will not be capacity increasing. Permanent right-of-way acquisitions will be required
for public utilities public facilities easements. Additionally, temporary construction easements will also be required. Implementation of the project will require relocation of existing utilities including water, sewer, telecommunications, electric, and storm drainage. Construction of the project will require between two and 14 feet of excavation for traffic signal foundations in addition to the removal of a non-native tree.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. Implementation of the project will include the construction of a new traffic signal in addition to curb and ramp improvements at the existing intersection of 65th Street and 53rd Avenue. The project site is within an urbanized area of the South Sacramento Community and will result in the removal of a non-native tree. However, removal of the tree will require adherence to the Sacramento County ·Tree Ordinance. Completion of the project will result in the continued use of the existing
facility with little or no expansion of use; therefore, the project is exempt from the provisions of CEQA
