Document Description
The Pump Station 28 Rehabilitation Project provides for replacing and upgrading equipment and systems. The proposed scope of work includes replacing six (6) various types of pumps with equal sized mixed flow pumps, replacing all electrical equipment, an emergency generator, all existing valves and discharging piping, and replacing corroded structural components, inlets and exhaust fans. It will also replace the existing monitor/controller with a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.

The Class 1 Categorical Exemption consists of the operation, repair, maintenance,
permitting, leasing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or
topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. The project involves minor alterations
to an existing facility for the replacement and upgrade of existing equipment and systems which will involve negligible
alteration and no expansion of existing or former use of the site.

Reasons for Exemption
The Class 2 Categorical Exemption consists of replacement or
reconstruction of existing structures and facilities where the new structure will be located on the same site as the structure
replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced. The new replacement
of six (6) various types of pumps with equal sized mixed flow pumps, all electrical equipment, an emergency generator, all
existing valves and discharging piping, corroded structural components, inlets, exhaust fans, and the existing
monitor/controller with a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system will be located on the same
site as the structure replaced and will have substantially the same purpose and capacity as the structure replaced. All
equipment that is removed from the site will be disposed of in a manner that meets all federal, state and local environmental and regulatory requirements.
