Document Description
The State Water Resources Control Board (State Water Board) is a Responsible Agency for the Project. The State Water Board is funding the Project referred to internally as Tier 2 – Secondary Urgency Projects. Between March 20 and March 26, 2026, the Division of Financial Assistance received Cleanup and Abatement Account (CAA) funding applications from five Regional Water Quality Control Boards (Regional Boards) and the State Water Board’s Division of Water Quality (DWQ). The requested funding is proposed to be put towards the State Water Board’s Statewide Chemistry Contract (26-XXX-270, Chemistry Contract), San Jose State University Research Foundation (24-059-270, SJSURF Contract), and University of California, Davis (24-057-270, UC Davis Contract), all of which are managed by the State Water Board’s Office of Information Management and Analysis. The Project includes water quality sampling, monitoring, and analysis from sites across the State. While proposed sampling locations range from cleanup sites to specific waterbodies, to broader regionwide monitoring, the use of the requested funding across the various Regional Boards and DWQ have the same goal to monitor and gather data so that further site characterization is possible, to proactively prevent potentially negative impacts to waters of the State (either surface or groundwater).
