Document Description
The proposed project consists of the installation of additional electric refrigerated container (reefer) plug infrastructure at the District's South Terminal, where refrigerated containerized cargo operations occur on a daily basis. Reefer plugs are specialized electrical connections that supply power to refrigerated 40-foot cargo containers. The purpose of the project is to expand the Port's capacity to support refrigerated cargo operations and maintain the cold chain for containerized fresh produce following offloading from ocean-going vessels. Increasing the number of available reefer plugs will enhance operational efficiency and flexibility at the terminal and allow the Port to better accommodate current and projected cargo volumes.
