Caltrans District 5 proposes vegetation management along highways in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties to reduce ignition probability along roadsides. The project will remove dead and dying brush, shrubs, ground fuels, slash, logs, debris, and dead, dying, and/or hazardous trees that pose a threat to public health and safety, and small-diameter suppressed or intermediate trees in areas of high density.
