Document Description
The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (District) is proposing to make minor structural alterations to the existing Foothills Field Office Annex (Annex) to re-level the foundation flooring and prevent future settlement. The Annex, located in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve, is a 3,950 sq. ft., one-story, mid-20th century timber-frame building on a concrete foundation with brick cladding at the exposed foundation walls. The interior flooring within the perimeter of the Annex has developed a noticeable slope, indicating potential foundation settlement issues. The District proposes to adjust the leveling of the Annex foundation and prevent future settlement by selectively removing (and replacing) brick veneer and stairs, installing concrete piers and pile connections, removing (and reinstalling) studs, and leveling the floor and interior footing. Approximately 3,700 sq. ft. of exterior grading is proposed at the perimeter of the structure to direct water away from the foundation. The Project has an estimated construction duration of one month.
The Annex was evaluated as part of the Deer Hollow Farm Historic Resource Evaluation (March 2022) and was deemed to be a non-contributing structure to the Deer Hollow Farm historic district.
