Document Description
The purpose of the Project is to stabilize and restore Manzanita Canyon, where streambed degradation, erosion, and invasive species are causing channel widening, scour, and creek incision which threaten streambank failure and damage to City of San Diego (City) sewer infrastructure. The Project will re-establish natural creek functions in accordance with City, Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB), and California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) requirements and guidelines.
The Permittee proposes to install streambed and bioengineered streambank stabilization features to prevent erosion and sediment loss. A reinforced concrete box culvert and headwall will be installed at the upstream end of the project near Thorn Street to protect from storm flow erosion and incision. The project will also establish a small area of stream channel.
