Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project was reviewed for potential exemptions and was found to satisfy the standards of Class 1 Categorical Exemption as specified within Section 15301 (Existing Facilities) of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) in that there would be negligible or no expansion of the existing or prior use with this project. The business occupies less than 10,000 square feet. The proposed use will not expand the existing 1,665 footprint. The use is consistent with the General Plan. Therefore, the city of Whittier has determined that the project will not have a significant effect on the environment and a Notice of Exemption will be filed pursuant to Section 15301, Class 1 (Existing Facilities).
