CEQA Guidelines Section 15303 - New Construction or Conversion of Small Structures
Reasons for Exemption
Class Three (3) consists of construction and location of limited numbers of new, small facilities or structures; installation of small new equipment and facilities in small structures; and the conversion of existing small structures from one use to another where only minor modifications are made in the exterior of the structure.
The project consists of the placement of one cargo container within the side yard of a single-family residentially developed parcel for the storage of residential effects. As the cargo container would be accessory to the existing single-family residence, the proposed structure would be exempt pursuant to Section 15303 concerning new construction or conversion of small structures. The proposed structure would
fall within example (e) which concerns specific accessory structures and is therefore exempt from the provisions of CEQA.
