Document Description
Acquisition of two conservation easements and three associated access easements of combined area of approximately 56.97 acres acres of conservation easement areas. The conservation easement areas will be used for habitat restoration by developing a floodplain that will inundate a portion of the easement areas, creating rearing habitat benefiting fall-run Chinook salmon and Federally listed California Central Valley (CCV) steelhead trout, while protecting and maintaining open space, wildlife and botanical habitats, and the scenic qualities of the easement areas. California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) § 21080.28 and CEQA Guidelines §15313 (Class 13) and § 15325 (Class 25) exempt the acquisition of, or transfer of interest in, land by a public agency for fish and wildlife conservation, and in order to preserve or restore open space or habitat, from CEQA. These exemptions apply to acquiring lands to preserve habitat, establish ecological reserves, or protect access to public lands, where the purpose is to maintain the land in their natural condition. Prior to approving any project resulting in physical changes to the land, further CEQA review will be undertaken.
