Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to extend pavement
service life of the mainline, ramps and shoulders by cold planing existing pavement and overlaying with Rubberized Asphalt Concrete-[Gap graded (RHMA-G)]. The Project also includes replacing shoulder rumble strips, upgrade culverts, upgrade existing guardrail to Midwest Guardrail System (MGS), upgrade ADA curb ramps, upgrade transportation management systems (TMS) and ramp metering systems (RMS), upgrade striping to enhanced wet night visibility at crosswalks, mark Class II bike lanes with green conflict paint, install a flashing beacon to improve pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and install rock blankets to improve roadside safety along Interstate 10 (I-10) between the Project limits in and near cities of Palm Springs, Cathedral City and Thousand Palms in Riverside County. Stormwater work includes installing trash capture devices. Erosion control mitigation includes installing twelve check dams, six sediment basins, installing Rock Slope Protection (RSP) at two locations and concrete apron at one location. Removal of dead trees, replanting and installing irrigation system are also included with landscape work.
