Document Description
The proposed project would implement transit, pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements along Mendell Street, Newcomb Avenue, lane Street, Underwood Avenue, and Keith Street~ with connections to Innes, McKinnon, Fairfax, Jerrold, and Kirkwood avenues in the Bayview neighborhood. The project would establish a designated north-south active transportation corridor parallel to Third Street, providing a lower-stress alternative for people walking and bicycling. Improvements include installation of a Class IV protected bikeway, raised and decorative crosswalks, bulb-outs, median islands, transit boarding islands, sidewalk widening, sharrows, and traffic calming features such as speed humps, as well as associated changes to parking and roadway striping. The purpose of the project is to enhance multimodal safety and connectivity while improving accessibility within the Bayview neighborhood.
