Document Description
RAYMUS VILLAGE BACKUP GENERATOR INSTALLATION Project Description Project Location: Raymus Village Park. See attached Vicinity Map. Project Justification: The Raymus Village Well Site #2 houses two (2) pumps that provide water and sanitary sewer service to residents in the Raymus Village Maintenance District. The existing pumps and generators were installed in the early 1980s with construction of a standby power plant associated with the Raymus Village Unit 5 Project. During a planned power outage organized by PG&E, the existing backup generators malfunctioned resulting in the total loss of both pieces of equipment. The malfunctioning backup generators will be removed and replaced with one new backup generator designed to accommodate the loads of both pumps. Scope of Work: The project will consist of: 1. Installing a backup generator to replace the existing generators that provide power to wastewater and water supplies for the Raymus Village Maintenance District. 2. Relocating electrical components in accordance with plans. 3. Testing conducted by the contractor under the supervision of San Joaquin County Utilities Maintenance. Environmental Setting: In these portions of the San Joaquin County, land usage is primarily residential. There are many large trees adjacent to the project area. Nesting and migratory birds, protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, may nest within these trees. Furthermore, the Swainson’s Hawk, a raptor species of concern within the State of California and listed as threatened may nest adjacent to or within the project area. A pre-construction survey for nesting Swainson’s Hawks and other migratory birds is recommended if construction is scheduled to occur from February 15th to September 1st. Beneficiaries: The public will see less interruptions in their water service during times of power failure with this new backup generator. Overall, there will be reduced maintenance concerns and more reliability within the project area.
