Document Description
The City of Galt Public Works Department plans to replace Well 16 within the Carillion Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and target a new aquifer. The existing well would be destroyed. The Carillion WTP has two wells, River Oaks Well and Well 16, both of which undergo a chlorine and chemical treatment process for arsenic, iron, and manganese removal in raw water. Upgrades to the water treatment system would occur. These upgrades would include construction of a production well, booster pump station, and storage tank. A permanent test well will also be placed for future well replacement needs.
The Project area is a flat 1.4-acre parcel with a water treatment system located at the western end and an open grassy area extending across the eastern portion of the parcel. Landscape trees are present, some of which would be removed for the construction of a new driveway connecting to the street. Trenching through landscaped areas will be completed for new drainage and piping to Di Maggio Boulevard. Modifying and/or moving existing irrigation is also planned. Surface grading would be done to improve drainage to storm drain inlets. At the grassy unimproved eastern portion of the site there would be installation of a new 1.5 MG tank, gravel at the location of a second future 1.5 MG tank, a concrete vault, underground piping and conduits, a booster pump station extending below ground, and pavement at all unpaved areas up to the existing treatment system slab.
