Document Description
Some areas of the the Edison Community Park sit atop a former landfill and some park facilities have been affected by land settlement over the years. The project would reconfigure the park and create new park amenities over non-landfill land. The various new and upgraded amenities, including new sports courts, wheel sports, playground, trees, walkways, parking lot, and access, would offer diversified recreation and allow for more park engagement. The resettling and sinking amenities would be cleared under the project to allow for more open space.

Reasons for Exemption
A CEQA Compliance Checklist prepared for the project found that the project is consistent with the development density established by the City of Huntington Beach General Plan Update for which an EIR (State Clearinghouse No. 2015101032) was certified. Consistent with CEQA Guidelines Section 15183(b), there are no project specific effects which are peculiar to the project or its site. There are no project specific impacts which the General Plan EIR failed to analyze as significant effects. Further, there are no potentially significant off-site and/or cumulative impacts which the General Plan EIR failed to evaluate. Furthermore, there is no substantial new information which results in more severe impacts than discussed in the General Plan EIR. Therefore, pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15183, the project is exempt for further environmental review.
