Document Description

Reasons for Exemption
This project consists of minor alterations to land involving the thinning and removal of surface vegetation for fire risk reduction and improved visibility within a County-owned airport. Pursuant to Section 15304 (Minor Alterations to Land) of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines, the proposed activities qualify for a Class 4 Categorical Exemption, as they involve minor public or private alterations in the condition of land and vegetation and will not result in significant adverse impacts. The prescribed burning activities will not result in the removal, destruction, or taking of any endangered, rare, or threatened plant or animal species, nor will they cause significant erosion or sedimentation of surface waters. Accordingly, the project is consistent with the provisions of CEQA Guidelines Section 15304 and does not have the potential to cause a significant effect on the environment.
