Document Description
The scope of work for each well abandonment includes: (1) mobilizing a rig to remove rods and tubing from the well, (2) mobilizing a Coil Tubing Unit to clean out the well to the bottom, (3) mobilizing bulk and pump trucks to fill the well from the bottom to the surface with either cement or zonite, (4) excavating and cutting the casing five feet below the surface, (5) tack-welding an identification plate on top of the casing stub, (6)
backfilling the excavation with the previously-displaced native soil, and (7) restoring the locations to their original state with 95% compaction. The work is expected to take four weeks to complete.

The project is exempt from CEQA under the Class 1, Existing Facilities categorical exemption (CEQA California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Section 15301), because the activity consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use. No expansion of existing or former use will occur. Further, none of the exceptions to the exemption in CEQA California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Section 15300.2 apply.
