Document Description
The proposed project would involve the installation of new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on the BAE leasehold at Tenth Avenue Marine Terminal by BAE Systems in the city of San Diego, California. Four (4) new 80-amp charging stations would be installed along the north exterior wall of Building 55, south of Belt Street, to allow recharging of new electric vehicles purchased to replace existing gasoline vehicles. Work to complete the proposed project would include trenching approximately 80 feet (36 inches deep) from Building 95 to Building 55 in order to install a 3 inch PVC conduit to connect to a new 480V distribution panel. A trench approximately 40 inches deep by 20 inches wide would then allow for electrical connection from the distribution panel to the charging stations in order to connect power to the newly installed stations. No new or additional electric or other utility interface would be required since the proposed project would be utilizing a dedicated circuit from Building 95 to power the new commercial load of the new charging stations. All trenching would involve removal of the existing blacktop, then filling, compacting, and replacing the blacktop to existing conditions. All excavated soil would be stockpiled and reused onsite. All construction and construction staging would take place on and within BAE’s leasehold. Construction of the proposed project is anticipated to occur in Spring 2026 and would take approximately three (3) months to complete. Due to its nature and limited scope, construction of the proposed project would generate a minor amount of vehicle trips and would require limited use of equipment. Therefore, impacts related to air quality, greenhouse gas emissions, and transportation and traffic are not anticipated to occur. Furthermore, the Applicant would be responsible for complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding construction demolition debris, hazards and hazardous materials, and stormwater.
