Document Description
21080.49(b) Statutory Exemption for Lake of the Pines critical evacuation route improvement by treating hazardous roadside vegetation. Located in southern Nevada County and within a High Fire Severity Zone, the Lake of the Pines (LOP) Critical Evacuation Microgrant Project is intended to provide hazardous vegetation removal that improves LOP’s main ingress and egress routes throughout the community. Lake of the Pines is one of Nevada County’s largest subdivisions, containing approximately 2,000 homes and over 4,000 full-time residents. This project will directly address evacuation concerns identified in the 2024 Evacuation Study and the 2025 Community Wildfire Protection Plan. Fuels reduction activities will consist of hand treatments to remove ladder fuels and increase residual canopy spacing between trees.
