This project involves minor alterations, upgrades, or improvements at an existing building and involves negligible or no expansion of the existing building use. The California State Building, also known as the Earl Warren Building, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as a contributor to the San Francisco Civic Center, and is included on the state master list of state-owned historic resources. The Earl Warren Building, together with the Hiram Johnson Building, make up the Ronald M George State Office Complex. Review of the project plans by a Preservation Architect determined that the project complies with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation and will not have an adverse effect on the historic nature of the resources. The State has confirmed no exceptions to the exemption apply.
