Document Description
The purpose of the Tulare County Weed Management Agency is to treat and control Ailanthus altissima, Tree of Heaven, Arundo donax, Giant Reed, Centaurea solstitialis, Yellow Star Thistle Spartium junceum, Spanish Broom, Tamarix spp., Tamarisk or other A, B,Q and Cal-IPC noxious weed listed. The listed above exists in large population, relatively easy to eradicate and growth habits make certain control methods more feasible. The control of invasive weeds is vital to the presentation and future ecological heath of the riparian areas of the Kaweah River drainage along the main river from the Sequoia National Park and protects our agricultural resources and agricultural production throughout Tulare County.

Reasons for Exemption
Class 7 consists of regulatory agencies, as authorized by state law or local ordinance, to assure maintenance, restoration, or enhancement of a natural resource where the regulatory process involves procedures for protection of
the environment. Class 8 consists of regulatory agencies, as authorized by state law or local ordinance to assure maintenance, restoration, or enhancement of the environment where the regulatory process involves procedures for protection of the environment. This project will be carried out by a regulatory agency and/or authorized contracted individuals and is mandated by state law and local ordinances. As appropriate for each species, a combination of mechanical and chemical control methods will be utilized. Therefore, the application of CEQA Sections 15307 & 15308 are applicable and appropriate for this project.
