Document Description
The proposed Central Utility Facility (CUF) - Steam Line Replacement - Leg 2 project (Project) would restore reliability of the steam delivery system to the Law Library from the CUF. The proposed Project will include the replacement and installation of blowdown heat recovery equipment and controls that make condensate and steam piping modifications to capture currently vented and wasted condensate from campus distribution and plant steam traps. Currently, 8-inch steam and 3-inch pumped condensate return pipes serve the building via underground piping originating from the east side of the CUF and routing to a vault located on the east side of the CUF driveway adjacent to the Law Library. The 8-inch steam pipe originates in the main steam header in the northeast corner of the CUF after the pressure regulating station. The 3-inch pumped condensate return pipe daylights outside in the SE corner of the CUF cooling tower yard area and connects to existing 4-inch pumped condensate return pipe that routes to the CUF condensate tank. The proposed Project is expected to take approximately 6 months. Encroachment permits from the City of Santa Ana would be obtained and standard BMPs and traffic control measures would be incorporated.
