Document Description
The proposed County Operations Center (COC) B Switchgear Replacement project (Project) would replace the obsolete electrical switchgear equipment in the COC B building at 1300 South Grand Avenue in the city of Santa Ana. The proposed Project involves the replacement of the existing switchgear with a new 4.160-volt switchgear that includes utility metering, Control Power Transformer automatic transfer capability and 1,200-amp vacuum breakers. The work also includes installing two new 480-volt unit substations with 4,160-volt to 480/277-volt, 1-MVA transformers; relocating the existing solar disconnect switch and related conduit and wiring; relocating an existing exhaust fan and ductwork to accommodate the new switchgear layout; intercepting and extending existing electrical feeders as required; and providing new structural concrete equipment pads, conduit, ductwork, piping supports and seismic anchoring. The proposed Project is expected to take approximately 6 months. Encroachment permits from the City of Santa Ana would be obtained and standard BMPs and traffic control measures would be incorporated.
