Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification Number NEV-62272-R2, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, Newmont Mining. The project is limited to the removal of barrels containing mining waste from an unnamed channel tributary of Deer Creek. Pre-removal work includes construction of an upper coffer dam and sediment trap to reroute the tributary around the work site. The barrels will be removed by hand, with limited or no mechanized equipment. After the removal from the channel, barrels will be lifted or dragged up the hillside using barrel bags, super sacks, heavy duty tarps, or other methods that will contain the drums and their contents. Following removal, the barrels will be disposed of at an appropriate facility.
