Document Description
The purpose of this project is to make improvements to the existing parking lot, restroom building and picnic area accessed from Dillon Point Road, and the trail head located on Sub Station Road, in Benicia State Recreation Area to improve accessibility at the park and to comply with the 2001 consent decree. Individually listed construction activities are as follows: At the Restroom: Remove existing concrete and AC paved aprons on the exterior of the existing building; Remove to rehabilitate all parts of the building except the existing CMU block wall, footing and a section of wood and glass windows above the CMU footing on the north side of the building; Retain the existing eave beams along the west-and east-facing walls at north façade of building and the existing ridge beam; Remove and replace all existing electrical services and fixtures; Utilize the existing north façade of the original building and reconstruct a building approximately 230 square feet larger than the original; Install two (2) 25 linear foot breezeway block walls adjacent to the buildings; and Install all new interior and exterior fixtures. In the Parking lot: Sawcut and remove approx. 4,560 square feet of 6-in. deep existing AC paving and reinstall approx. 3,670 square feet of AC paving and approx. 920 square feet of concrete paving; Excavate to install approx. 114 linear feet of concrete curb adjacent to the AC paving; and Install (9) concrete wheel stops within the new AC paving. At the Site: Remove approx. 2,450 square feet of existing gravel and concrete paving; Remove/stump grind thirteen (13) trees throughout the site; Remove three (3) BBQ’s, ten (10) picnic tables and two (2) trash receptacles; Pour approx. 7,330 square feet of concrete paving to, and around, the new restroom building, and at sites and routes between the new accessible picnic area; Install 10 linear feet of 2-in. waterline and one (1) curb stop valve to control water from the existing main line to the building; Trench to extend the sewer pipe from existing sewer clean out/point of connection to building; Excavate to install electrical conduit and conductors from an existing electrical panel to a new electrical panel, then connect the new electrical panel to an existing pole mounted meter panel; Connect water, sewer and electrical to existing systems; and Install a free-standing drinking fountain and connect to the water system.
