Document Description
The Project purpose is to conduct a subsurface geotechnical exploration program to advance the New Eel-Russian Facility (NERF) to a 60% Design. This program will collect data that will help: identify depth of river sediment (soil) deposited in the Van Arsdale Reservoir to inform sediment volume estimates; identify physical characteristics of soil to inform selection of material parameters for sediment transport modeling; characterize chemical contents of soil to inform environmental considerations and suitability considerations for river channel restoration; and investigate soil and bedrock conditions to inform the foundation design and construction of the future NERF components (i.e., pump station, retaining wall, and other associated structures) between the Cape Horn Dam and the Van Arsdale Diversion Intake. The information will also be used to inform sediment volume estimates, select material parameters for sediment transport modeling, and suitability consideration for river channel restoration and/or potential engineering use of the materials.
