Categorical Exemption
Type, Section or Code
Class 1 - 15301 Existing Facilities
Reasons for Exemption
Class 1 Existing Facilities allows for the repair, maintenance, or minor alteration of existing public facilities, involving negligible or no expansion of existing or former use. The roof replacement for 9520 East Artesia Boulevard generally consists of flat roofing materials that are not visible to the public. The drawings indicate the only work visible to the public is an in-kind replacement of parapet wall coping and down spouts. While the building is over 50 years, it has not been evaluated in accordance to PRC 5024. However, for purposes of impact analysis, the building is assumed eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places and is listed on the state master list of state-owned historic resources. The project plans were reviewed by a Preservation Architect and determined to be in compliance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation, and will not have an adverse effect on the potentially historic nature of the resources. The State has confirmed no exceptions to the exemption apply.
