Document Description
The Camp Taylor Educational Native Plant Garden Project encompasses 3.5 acres of private lands in western Stanislaus County. The project will plant a native plants garden to provide both habitat for wildlife and environmental education opportunities for Camp Taylor, a non-profit which serves children with heart disease. The garden will include native trees, shrubs, flowers and herbs. The work will be performed in a previously landscaped and now degraded area currently dominated by invasive weeds. An existing irrigation system will be updated and used to establish the new plantings. The Project includes invasive plant removal, planting, educational signage, walking paths, plant and irrigation system maintenance and basic scientific monitoring.

Reasons for Exemption
The project is less than five acres in size and will provide for the restoration/enhancement and maintenance of a native plant garden to benefit native wildlife. Conducted via a minor private alteration to flat lands and existing facilities, using typical gardening/landscaping methods with no removal of mature healthy scenic trees and no significant, permanent environmental impact. None of the exceptions under CEQA Guidelines Section 15300.2 apply.
