Document Description
The project proposes to install new loop detectors, piezo, cabinets, foundations and pull boxes. All constructions will be on pavement or in previously disturbed ground. Detector loops are installed 3” at maximum depth in pavement.
All locations will require the installation of new conduit under pavement or in previously disturbed areas.
Location 3, the new conduit will be installed in the dirt area (30 inches below the surface). The new foundation for the new controller cabinet will be installed in the dirt area (16 inches below the surface). The 2 new pull-boxes will be added.

Reasons for Exemption
The proposed project is categorically exempt from CEQA under Class 1 (Existing Facilities) and Class 3 because the work consists of installing loop detectors, conduit, cabinets, foundations, and pull boxes within existing paved roadways or previously disturbed areas. All construction activities involve minor alterations with limited ground disturbance and no expansion of use beyond existing facilities.
This Project is exempt because it involves: • To avoid take of migratory birds: The nesting period for residents and neotropical birds in this region extends from May 1 to July 30. To avoid any direct or indirect impacts to nesting birds, all construction activities will occur outside the nesting period from August 1 to April 30. The project will not result in significant environmental effects, is not located in a particularly sensitive environment, and does not involve cumulative impacts or unusual circumstances.
