Document Description
There are three project locations for this emergency storm repair:
At Location 1, there was a road embankment repair on Bear Gulch
Road, 1.8 miles north of State Route 84. At Location 2, there was a bank stabilization repair on Tunitas Creek Road, 2.9 miles east of Highway 1. At Location 3, there was a road embankment repair on Purisima Creek Road, 0.7 miles east of Highway 1.
These slip-outs are the result of a storm event in December 2025 and have worsened with the early January 2026 storm event. All three locations had
unsupported sections of road due to the recent slip of the road embankment. Project activities occurred in the following sequence: biological survey, best
management practice (BMP) implementation, equipment staging, emergency repair, erosion control, and vegetation restoration. For the duration of the
emergency repair work, materials and equipment were positioned on the paved roadway and shoulder. Equipment used to complete the repair included
personal vehicles, Gradall, compaction equipment, and dump trucks. Post-construction erosion control BMPs were installed to conserve soil resources and
protect water quality. Equipment access to the creek was not required. Field personnel accessed the edge of slip-out by foot to install water quality protection
measures (silt fencing). All disturbed areas were seeded with native seed. covered with sterile rice straw. and covered with natural fiber jute netting.
